Master Audio with Dolby

Audio Mastering gives you the control to adjust your post-production Dolby Mastered/Enhanced files. These settings can be adjusted within their minimum and maximums and allow you to reset those settings back to their default setting.

We recommend most users keep their settings default. These controls are here for those familiar with audio processing techniques. Our Support is limited to trying to troubleshoot enhanced/mixed files with custom settings.

Master Audio with Dolby Settings

These settings add more control of the processed file when using the Master Audio with Dolby feature.

Loudness

"Loudness is the subjective perception of the level of sound. The loudness level should be kept consistent for the best listener experience. The reliable control of audio loudness has long been an issue for content creators, producers, and broadcasters. There have been various approaches to the normalization of loudness used in broadcasting which resulted in inconsistencies." -  Learn More

  • Enable: To enable Loudness adjustments in your to enhance file, please enable the feature.
  • Target Level: The highest loudness level. Minimum: -20 Maximum: -13
  • Dialog Intelligence: Enables the Dolby Dialogue Intelligence Speech Gate to tune loudness with the audio gate. Learn More
  • Speech Threshold: The speech threshold for the Dolby Dialog Intelligence Speech Gate. Minimum: 0 Maximum: 100

Dynamics

Media content can have a dialog with uneven talker volumes depending on factors such as how loud an individual speaks or their position relative to a recording device. Some examples include:

  • Someone speaks too quietly or too loudly.
  • A speaker changes the distance from the microphone.
  • A speaker has a microphone in the wrong polar orientation.
  • The recording device has a low-quality microphone.

Dynamics with Dolby Enhance helps users level recording volumes. Learn More

  • Range Control - Control of the range of the dynamic processing.
    • Enable: To enable Dynamics Range Control in your enhanced file, please be sure to enable this feature.
    • Amount: The "strength" of the dynamic level to process. Low, Medium, High, Max.

Noise

"Noise is unwanted, unpleasant, loud, or disruptive audio that is not part of the creative intent when audio is captured." Some Non-stationary noises include:

  • Dog Barking.
  • Keyboard clicks.
  • Loud Outside Noise.
  • Vibrations

While Stationary noise would be something like a constant A/C fan blowing.  Learn More

  •  Reduction - Suppresses background noise.
    • Enable: To enable Noise Reduction in your enhanced file, please be sure to enable this feature.
    • Amount: The "aggressiveness" of the Noise Reduction processing. Low, Medium, High, Max.

Filter

" Equalization in sound recording and reproduction is adjusting the volume of different frequency bands within an audio signal. This can help to compensate for recordings using home or consumer devices like mobile phones or low-quality off-the-shelf microphones and recordings made in less optimal environments where the room affects the overall balance of the sound." Learn More

  •  Dynamic EQ - The Dynamic EQ filter will adjust frequency, gain, bandwidth, etc., to equalize and compress the overall spectral balance.
    • Enable: To enable Dynamic EQ in your enhanced file, please be sure to enable this feature.
  •  High Pass - The highpass filter removes mechanical thumps and hums from low frequencies by removing them and only letting signals above a threshold pass through. This can make speech recordings sound better. Learn More
    • Enable: To enable the High Pass filter in your enhanced file, please be sure to enable this feature.
    • Frequency: The frequency value you want to use for filtering. Anything that falls below this threshold will be removed. Minimum: 50 Maximum: 120
  • Hum - Hum reduction detects and removes hum sounds by looking at peaks in the average amplitude of frequencies over time. This works particularly well for static hums such as oscillating mains hum, constant background tones, or soft/low-frequency humming.
    • Enable: To enable Hum Reduction in your enhanced file, please be sure to enable this feature.

Speech

Speech Enhancement includes controls for sibilance and speech isolation. When considering unwanted noise discovered when analyzing your content, the intelligent noise management solution will blend static noise reduction with more aggressive speech isolation dropping any nuisances not attributable to speech. If your content has music, you may want to disable this enhancement. Learn More

  •  Isolation - Speech isolation is enabled by default as part of intelligent noise management. This type of noise refers to any nuisance sounds not attributable to speech or dialog. You can disable this option if you only want static noise reduction to allow more background context sounds to remain in the content.
    • Enable: To enable Isolation in your enhanced file, please be sure to enable this feature.
  • Sibilance - In phonetics, sibilants are fricative consonants of higher amplitude and pitch, made by directing a stream of air with the tongue towards the teeth. Learn More
    •  Reduction - Suppresses Sibilance noise.
      • Enable: To enable Sibilance Reduction in your enhanced file, please be sure to enable this feature.
      • Amount: The "aggressiveness" of the Sibilance Reduction processing. Low, Medium, High, Max.
  • Plosive - In phonetics, a plosive, also known as an occlusive or simply a stop, is a pulmonic consonant in which the vocal tract is blocked so that all airflow ceases. Learn More
    •  Reduction - Suppresses background noise.
      • Enable: To enable Plosive Reduction in your enhanced file, please be sure to enable this feature.
      • Amount: The "aggressiveness" of the Plosive Reduction processing. Low, Medium, High, Max.
  • Clicks - Clicks are sounds produced by the movement of the mouth before, during, or after a speech that may be picked up by a microphone during recording.
    •  Reduction - Suppresses clicks noise.
      • Enable: To enable Clicks Reduction in your enhanced file, please be sure to enable this feature.
      • Amount: The "aggressiveness" of the Clicks Reduction processing. Low, Medium, High, Max.

Music

This setting can be used to enhance the quality of music found in media.

  •  Detection - Automatically detect music and adjust processing to preserve music.
    • Enable: To enable Music Detection in your enhanced file, please be sure to enable this feature.
